Tired with capital ZZZZZzzzzzz's!
Greetings everyone. It is now 6:37 and is only about an hour or so away from the time I get ready for bed. This is after taking a nap earlier today after my Dr. appt. this morning. I have felt a little queasy, but the tired factor is definitely here. I'm so very thankful for every little symptom, however, because it means that everything is going the way it should be. Our appt. went well. They just talked to us today about our medical histories and gave us a giant bag full of information and stuff to read through including a binder to keep for the hospital. Shane did say that he would take a couple of classes with me at the clinic, like Baby 101. We're going to need all the help we can get. I haven't changed a diaper since I was in high school and even then it was like 1 diaper... Shane... never. Shane says we'll learn as we go. :) Good night everyone! Sweet Dreams! ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz.
The Word Is Out!

Well, it's officially been announced, Shane and I are expecting a baby!! A human baby... not another pug. :) This came as a fantastic surprise. I'm seven weeks along now and our due date is December 14th. We have had one ultrasound done and got to see the baby and hear the heart beat That was the coolest thing ever!! We will find out if it's a girl or boy as soon as we are able to. I have big plans for a nursery, but I need to know the gender first. I have no preference, but Shane says with a wife and two girl dogs it would sure be nice to have another male around. My mom is coming up next Saturday so that we can go to the Mom 2 Mom sale at the Birch Run Expo Center. Shane and I went walking around Babies R Us just to browse and that stuff is expensive! It's a good idea to try to find some good deals. I made the announcement today at school with my staff, kindergartners and sixth graders. I told my kindergartners and one boy stood up and said, "So that's why your belly is so big!" We then had a discussion on how the baby was just a little bigger than an ant right now so it would really not affect my belly at this point. :) My sixth graders were just interested in possibly having a new baby to baby-sit... We're over the moon right now. Let's keep hoping for a healthy pregnancy and baby.
Finally, snoring...
The vet took one look at Penny's belly yesterday and asked, "Has she been super active?". I started laughing. The question is, "When is she not?" She was a very swollen stomach now because of being too active after surgery, so we're taking it easy this weekend. I missed out on Relay for Life in Indiana. Shane took Ruby and went with Travis down to Culver, Indiana to his parents' house for the weekend. So, it's just me and the pug. Right now she is finally snoring on my lap. When Ruby is here it's very hard for her to make an effort not to chase her around. We'll see what happens when Ruby gets home tomorrow... :)
Surgery?? What surgery??
So, unless you saw Penelope the pug from about 4pm-2am after her surgery you would have absolutely no idea that she had any procedure done at all. At around 3 am she woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed hopping, jumping and running around. Mind you the vet said, "Please keep her resting and not hopping, jumping or running around and do not let her play with Ruby for 10 days!!!" I really don't see this happening. Telling a puppy not to run, jump or play is like telling Shane he can't use a computer for 10 days... :) he he.
Poor poor pitiful Penelope
Miss Penelope came home from the vet today and I want to cry when I look at her. She's shaking and miserable in her kennel and ate three tiny food bits from me and hasn't drank anything yet. Ruby is hanging out by her kennel being a good big sister making sure she's okay. We have to keep her away from playing with Ruby for 10 days! That seems like an eternity... poor poor puppy... :(
Easter 2009
We had a great Easter weekend here. My mom gave us some beautiful tulips. We held on to the tradition of dying Easter eggs, even with the little shrinking plastic wraps that go around the egg. They didn't have any with pugs on it... :(
The Easter bunny came for the pugs and for us. We went to church bright and early and took this group picture when we got home.
We have a blog now!
Hello all,
Well, our friends have had blogs for a while now so I thought it was maybe time for us to jump on the blog wagon. I decided on the name, "Curly Tails and Snorts" because of our two adorable little pugs, Ruby (3yrs.) and Penelope aka "Penny" (4 mths). Pugs are the best! I actually took Penelope to the vet this morning to be spayed. I know it's the right thing to do, but it was still hard to drop her off this morning knowing that she's going to have to go through puppy surgery today. She couldn't understand why I couldn't feed her breakfast this morning. The hardest part of this is going to be to have her stay calm and not play with Ruby when she gets home. She's going to need some healing time.
We had a nice Easter here at the Emmons' house. My brother, Jonathan, was able to come and stay the weekend with us from the University of Akron. We did some hard work on Saturday and had Easter dinner here on Sunday with six of our family. I made "Twinkie Chicks" (I'll post a picture later) and a bread bunny veggie tray. We had ham and all the fixings. Shane helped me a lot getting everything ready. Jonathan's job was to pug-sit while we were getting stuff ready. I went out to check on them once and Penny was snoring right along with him and Ruby was on the coffee table lapping up his orange juice... typical.
I have the day off today and tomorrow it's back to teaching. I have a cake to make for confirmation at church for next weekend and Friday Shane, Travis and I are heading to Culver, Indiana for Relay for Life.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! Feel free to drop us a line. Until next time... snort snort!
Beth, Shane, Ruby and Penelope
