The Big "2-8"

Violet's First Trip to Bronner's
My sweet husband gave me a beautiful amethyst ring. It was a complete surprise. :)
Shane and Violet did a great job on the cake. I love how it says, "Mom"...

We had a great birthday weekend! My mom was able to stay for a week which was wonderful. We took Violet for her first trip to Bronner's and took her picture in front of a pretty Violet tree. My mom watched Violet so that Shane and I could go to Zehnder's for my birthday and then she took me out the following night to the Cracker Barrel. So, needless to say I was eating well this week. :) Shane and Violet made me a beautiful lemon cake. It was my first cake with "Mom" written on it. :) Violet got me a pair of amethyst earrings and Shane gave me the beautiful ring you can see in the photos. I'm trying to wear as much purple as I can now so I can wear it as much as possible. I got to celebrate today at my dad's house. Sharon made a delicious dinner and Violet was able to get passed around a bit. She looked cute today in her penguin outfit. Thank you so much to all my family for so many great gifts and making it such a great birthday!

To Great-Grandmother's House We Go

Today my mom and I traveled with Violet to my Grandma and Grandpa Colley's house in Troy, MI. We had a very nice visit and they were very proud of their new great-granddaughter. This is their fifth great-grandchild. We took a four generation picture of Great-Grandma, Grandma Sally, Me, and Violet.

Frills and Bows

Violet, Mom, and Beth went to church last Sunday and thought it was a great opportunity to dress her in one of her many frilly outfits. She looked beautiful in this green dress with purple bow. The ensemble was complete with a sweater and hand crocheted booties (made by Grandma Sally :) ). Everything was going fine until we got to church where she immediately had to be changed because she had completely soaked through. So, she went back to her basic sleeper for the rest of church, but she lasted long enough for us to get these cute pictures. We'll try again sometime soon...

Christmas with Violet

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Everyone! We had a great time with our little Violet over the holiday. Santa visited our house for her and we had lots of visitors come over to see Violet. Check out some of the pictures of the holiday.

Welcome to our new and improved BLOG!

I made a few changes to our BLOG to represent the change in our household recently. Violet Ann Emmons was born on Tuesday, December 8th at 8:33 AM at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, MI. She weighed 6lbs. 10.8oz. and was 19inches long. She has a full head of Shane's curly dark hair and my toes. We are very excited about the arrival and have had so much fun this past week with her. I can't believe she will be a week old tomorrow. Please save our BLOG address so you can come back and visit and see updated BLOGS and pictures of our family.

May we present...Baby Violet!!

We headed to the doctor's office early Monday morning with early labor signs, but since my blood pressure was high, they sent me to the hospital. Once there we had 22 hours of labor. I had an epidural, but it didn't work all the time, especially towards the end. Around 7AM the doctor came in and said that I wasn't able to dilate enough for the baby to come so they needed to do a C-section. Part of me was relieved and the other was wondering why I went through 22 hours of labor to have a C-section, but after I saw her, it was all worth it. She's absolutely beautiful with a full head of dark hair like Shane and she has my toes. She was officially brought into the world at 8:33 AM. We are still in the hospital until tomorrow for C-section recovery. Check out the pictures.

Surprise Party

Last weekend Shane and I went to a surprise 40th Anniversary party for my Aunt Mitzi and Uncle David at the Pine Knob Mansion in Clarkston. It was a very nice place and a beautiful day. My Aunt and Uncle were very surprised that all of us were there including my Grandma and Grandpa Colley, who usually don't attend big events much anymore. My mouth dropped a little at the one where I'm turned sideways. I didn't think I looked THAT big, but evidently Violet has been put on some weight recently. :)
